❤ Friday, June 18, 2010

I chose 12th of June for elective C-section cos firstly, it was a Saturday.

Secondly, it was one of the "good" dates that the chinese believe.

And thirdly, I was hoping there won't be a bed crunch at Singapore General Hospital cos it was a weekend therefore I told my gynae I did not even want to be admitted the day before.

So my last checkup was on the 10/06/10.

Went to him & had the usual scans & stuffs.

Saw her little fingers on the ultrascan!

=)

(The last checkup before that I saw her little feets! So amazing.)

And my gynae told me to fast on Friday midnight & come in whatever time I wanted to for the big day.

O.o

Okay lor.

So on Friday in laws brought me to Boon Tong Kee for the "last supper" before my surgery & before my confinement.

It reminded me of the day when I was preggy with Seraphina & was to be admitted to the hospital at night, I went to Boon Tong Kee for a good feast with mil & my mom.

Saturday morning, woke up at 6.30am & got ready to head down to SGH.

In laws dropped hubby & I there.

Went down to my work place to ka-chao my colleagues before my 4 months maternity leave.

Then headed down to the Admissions Office to get my registration done.

Reached Labour Ward at 8am & they did all the paper work, put up the CTG & inserted a drip for me as I was fasting.

Yeah, realised they put the plug on the same vein as when I gave birth to Sera.

Kept telling hubby I was hungry..

(-_-")

Still remember one conversation between me & him.

Hubby: "Dear, are you hungry? Do you want anything to eat?"
*said it without thinking at the point time*

Me: *shoots evil stare* *smacks him*

Finally at about 1pm the nurse came in & told me the theatre had called for me & that they are ready to fetch me.

After going to the toilet with hubby's assistance, he & the Labour Ward nurses all accompanied me to the other side of Labour Ward that linked to the Operation Theatre.

I could see the nurses from the Operation Theatre waiting there for me with a trolley bed & a ladder to climb up to it.

I could feel my heart thumping so loud.

Said goodbye to hubby & he sent me off with a kiss.

Then one of my nursing batch who happened to be working at the theatre on that day came to accompany me.

=)

Felt so much better to have someone I knew there with me to hold my hand to reassure me.

She was there with me all the way & helped me video down when the Labour Ward nurses were suctioning Angelica.

I went in at 1.05pm.

(There was a clock there.)

The anesthetist came to do a spinal anesthesia & it was so PAINFUL.

But the experience was better then taking the epidural when I was preggy with Sera.

After that my gynae came in & asked me how I was & very soon he did what he did.

I could feel him tugging & pulling & shaking me.

Then I heard my friend said: "Serene! She's coming out already! Can you hear her?"

And true enough, I heard my little Angel crying.

SUPER LOUD.

So much louder then Sera.

After the Labour Ward nurses were done suctioning & cleaning Angelica they brought her to me for a brief moment & I saw her lips bubbling with saliva, so cute.

(-_-")

They took out my oxygen mask & I gave her a little kiss before they took her out to see her daddy for the first time.

=)

Pictures daddy took when they wheeled her out from the OT.

Everything ended at 1.50pm & was wheeled out to the Recovery Area.

I was shaking damn bad cos I was so cold inside I could hear my teeth chatter like nuts.

Thank goodness for the thermal thingy they blast in between the blankets to keep me warm after.

The anesthetist was so nice, kept holding my shoulders and kept reassuring me everything would be okay and kept asking the nurses to use the thermal thingy on me.

Drifted in & out of sleep and time passed by so slow & I kept asking when I could be back in the ward.

Apparently, they were short of porters cos it was a weekend & they kept telling me soon soon.

(-_-")

And I kept telling them to hurry up cos the spinal was wearing off & I could feel the pain was kicking in.

Firstly, I didn't want to stay at the Recovery Area when the pain kicked in cos it meant they would have to give me pain killers which meant they had to put me under observation even longer which meant I would have to stay there even LONGER!

And secondly, I wanted to go back to see hubby & Angelica & my family who I knew were waiting for me.

FINALLY, at about 4pm they wheeled me out & the pain was starting as they transferred me here & there.

So paisae to go back to the ward that I used to work in..

And the first person I saw was hubby followed by my family then they wheeled Angelica in.

=)

Didn't breastfeed Angelica still the next day as my first night was a painful one, literally in agony at 2am in the morning..

They had to jab me with painkillers that made me super groggy until I saw the room was spinning.

In the morning I was still in pain but refused the painkiller jab because I didn't want to spend my day in bed with a giddy head.

I WANTED TO EAT!!

I have not eaten the entire day before & I was eagerly waiting for my pancakes (I ordered them the day before hand) for breakfast.

Alas, I could only eat during lunch.

(-_-")

Hungry ghost.. Fasted like an entire and a half day okay!

But I felt so much better to sit out of bed despite still being in pain, and have everything removed.

Breastfed Angelica for the first time & she was such a clever girl.

=)

Everyday hubby came down to spend the day with me & helped me with everything..

Made my days in the hospital seem so much shorter & less painful as I counted the days before I could go home sweet home & see my little Sera too!

I love you. <3

And thanks for everyone who came to see me & angel & for the gifts.

=)

All ready to go home.

Home sweet home!

My tiny little Angel.

Love is patient, Love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
But rejoices in the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
Always hopes, always perserveres.
LOVE NEVER FAILS.
